Square People

“Square People” covers Pioneer Courthouse Square in downtown Portland, Oregon. It’s known as “the city's living room.” Over two hundred light rail trains stop at the square each day. They come from east, west, north and south, bringing thousands of people to the square. Hundreds of events are held there each year. This photoblog profiles the people and events on the square.

About Me

My photo
Don McCall
My first post on this photo blog was on June 22, 2010. I had just purchased a new digital 35mm camera, and wanted to find something I could photograph and publish on a regular basis. Since I live in downtown Portland, I was very familiar with Pioneer Courthouse Square, and thought it would be the perfect place to photograph people and events. It was a great choice! At the present time I’ve put up over 270 posts, covering everything from free ice cream give-a-ways to the Occupy Portland protests. The blog has over 1000 photographs taken on Pioneer Courthouse Square. Internet users in over forty countries around the world have viewed “Square People”. We are very fortunate that our past city leaders had the foresight to set aside this remarkable piece of property, so the people of Portland would have the opportunity to present outstanding events and voice their opinions on a wide range of subjects. Hey Portland, it’s your place, put it to great use!
