Remembering the Six Million

The Oregon Area Jewish Committee and the Oregon Holocaust Resource Center sponsored a special program on the Square today. It was one of hundreds of programs held around the world to perpetuate the memory of the victims of the Holocaust. It’s called “Unto Every Person There is a Name.” People from all walks of life volunteer to read the names, ages and birthplaces of victims of the Holocaust on Yom HaShoah – the Day of Remembrance. Over 30 people volunteered to read thousands of names on the Square this afternoon. Two of the volunteers were, Oregon Attorney General John Kroger, (second photo), and Portland City Commissioner Amanda Fritz, (bottom photo).
